On March 26, the Department of Industrial Engineering hosted the International Symposium on Innovative Talent Development and a Career Fair at Shunde Building. As part of the Department’s 25th anniversary series, the event aimed to promote collaboration among universities, enterprises, and government, and to advance international innovative talent development and university industry synergy. Representatives from various sectors engaged in in depth discussions, fostering precise alignment between talent cultivation and evolving industry demands.

At the Symposium

Lefei Li, Council Chair of the Department of Industrial Engineering, delivered the opening remarks, warmly welcoming all guests and introducing the Department’s development history, disciplinary strengths, and achievements in internationalization. He noted that amid profound global industrial transformation and rapid technological iteration, talent development must further integrate international vision, engineering practice, and cross cultural communication capabilities.

Chen Wang, Deputy Head for Teaching, Liang Ma, Assistant to the Department Head and Director of International Programs, Ye Cheng, retired Associate Professor, and Liang Yang, Senior Manager of External Cooperation at Tsinghua University, attended the event. Representatives from multiple enterprises and local governments were also present and witnessed the opening ceremony.

During the keynote session, Liang Ma delivered a presentation titled “Practice and Prospects of International Talent Development in the Department of Industrial Engineering,” introducing the Department’s explorations and achievements in international programs, curriculum system development, and talent cultivation models.

Industry representatives then shared insights on emerging talent demands. Guangzhi Li, President of Qingdao TGOOD Electric Co., drew on the company’s global expansion practices to emphasize the value of interdisciplinary engineering talent. Xiaofei Gou, Vice President of R&D at Li Auto, analyzed the evolving competency structure of engineering talent in AI driven smart mobility. Longcai Dai, Director of the Digital Intelligence Center at Geely Holding Group, introduced new pathways for university industry collaboration under the context of human machine synergy.

During the recognition ceremony, the Department honored individuals and organizations that made outstanding contributions to talent development and university industry collaboration. This was followed by a roundtable discussion where participants exchanged views on talent cultivation models, curriculum improvement, and practice platform development, forming multiple consensuses.

In her concluding remarks, Chen Wang stated that the Department will continue to advance educational reform and enhance talent development quality. In the context of artificial intelligence and globalization, it will further strengthen university industry collaborative education, with a focus on cultivating students’ system thinking, cross cultural communication, and complex problem solving abilities.

In the afternoon, the Career Fair was successfully held. Multiple enterprises participated in on site recruitment, offering diverse job opportunities across various fields for students in industrial engineering and related majors. Students and company representatives engaged in in depth exchanges, creating a lively atmosphere. Meanwhile, university industry cooperation discussions were conducted, focusing on internship base development, joint talent cultivation, and curriculum co-development.

Looking ahead, the Department will continue to deepen university industry cooperation, expand international exchanges, and enhance the internationalization and practice orientation of its talent development, cultivating more innovative engineering talents to meet the needs of global industrial development.
